For My Friend

Country mouse, city mouse
No truer words were spoken
Yet the bond between them shared
Never would be broken

Laughter and tears
True joy with true sorrow
Qualities of each other
They certainly did borrow

Each of them learning
What the other did know to teach
Trust and compassion
Over barriers they did reach

Much time together they did not have
In those mornings way out West
Since time goes by quickly
When spent with friends who are the best
