home again

We got home yesterday afternoon. The drive up and back to Dallas was quite smooth and Tristan was finally old enough to enjoy some DVDs and not really fuss too much.

Being on the North side of Dallas was a breath of fresh air. I was able to find places easily and deal with the traffic much better than down in the market center.

All of our doctor appointments went well too. I am still amazed at the difference in the private doctors we see in Dallas and the 'public' ones we see here in Abilene. The offices are cleaner, brighter, more comfortable and cheery. They have the time to sit and talk with you and make sure you understand what is going on. That gives me a chance to actually listen and relax, instead of always being on guard and ready to fight for something that my son my not being getting that he needs. I actually have the email address of Tristan's doctors. How very cool is that? Even the office workers seem to really care about helping you with your paperwork for insurance. All health care offices should be like that.

It was a pretty routine visit. We are now waiting on the results of two blood tests. The first one, is a DNA test that should determine if Tristan has NF1 for sure, and the other blood test is just a count to monitor any changes in his blood that could later lead to leukemia. That and his developmental delay are the two things that the docs are most concerned about now. He is progressing well.... just slowly.

We left with a February return date.
